Guys at Crabfu.com have come out with an R/C tortoise “bot” with direct control, using a 4 channel radio system. The bot was built with 4 sub micro servos, and each axis of the transmitter stick controls a servo. Pictures and video available after the break.
WOW! A 60 year old Japanese man Takahashi-san has begun the mechanical bug in 1998 and currently he owns a fifteen ton robot known as the Kabutom MX-03. It is an eleven meter long monster comes with a control panel and can be remote controlled. Video after the break.
The Motoman SDA10 is an agile dual-arm industrial robot that is capable of frying you an okonomiyaki (pan-fried batter cake). It was shown at the International Next-Generation Robot Fair in Osaka. It is a product of Yaskawa Electric, designed to work independently together with humans in the workplace. The Motoman SDA10 measures 135-centimeter (4.5 ft) tall, weighs 220-kilogram (480 lb). It has 15 joints, 7 in each arm and one in the torso. The many joints allow it to move easily and follow a wide range of motions. It works by speech recognition technology to take verbal orders and then executes them efficiently. Check out the video after the break.
The Kokoro’s Actroid DER2 Fembot has come out for a short commercial video spot for the UV insect repellent/sunscreen spray. This robot has debuted in Japan two years ago. You can rent her if you need her, pricing are around $3500 for 5 days. Continue reading for the video.
Dan Paluska and Jeff Lieberman have created the ABSOLUT QUARTET, an automated multi-instrumental orchestral machine. This large-scale electromechanical sculpture consists of three instruments and thousands of parts to create music. The main timbre is a marimba played by balls shot from the robotic canon, other components which include a series of wineglasses played by little robotic fingers and an array of robotic percussive instruments”. This RiSE V3 robot is designed by Boston Dynamics, working with with researchers from The University of Pennsylvania’s Kod*lab. It can climb up the poles easier than we do. Measuring 28-inch long, this quadruped robot can climb up vertical terrains at a rate of 21cm per second. It is created for use in search and rescue missions, reconnaissance and surveillance, it has claws crafted from surgical needles, letting it grip vertical surfaces.
