

Verizon Wireless has launched a new entry-level phone from Personal Communications Devices targeted towards globetrotters and jet-setters. Dubbed as the Escapade, this simple clamshell phone offers a 2-inch internal TFT display, a 1.1-inch external CSTN display, a 2MP camera, VZ Navigator capable, Mobile Web, Mobile Email, Bluetooth, a pre-installed SIM card and supports both dual band CDMA 1X and quad band GSM/GPRS (850/900/1800/1900 MHz) connectivities, allowing users to place voice calls in more than 220 destinations worldwide. The Escapade will go on sale starting tomorrow, August 21, for $29.99 with a 2-year contract agreement and after a $50 mail-in rebate.

The guys over at ai.rs. blog has posted some new leaked informations including real picture of HTC’s upcoming smartphone namely the HTC Mega. According to them, the official specs of HTC Mega will include a 528MHz Qualcomm MSM7225 CPU, a 2.8-inch touchscreen display with 240 x 320 pixels, a 3.2MP camera, HTC’s TouchFlo UI, a 256MB ROM, a 256MB RAM, a microSD card slot, GPS, WiFi, Bluetooth 2.0 with EDR, Windows Mobile 6.5 OS and supports both dual-band HSDPA (900/2100 MHz) and quad-band GSM connectivities. The HTC Mega is expected to be launched in the next few months for around $300.

Orange will start selling the LG Touchscreen Watchphone (LG-GD910) in the UK via its Bond Street Station shop on Thursday, 27th August. Available for a limited time only (first-come-first-serve), consumers will be able to purchase the phone for just £500. The watchphone features a scratch resistant touch-screen interface that makes writing text messages easy. Other specs include a built-in speaker, and an MP3/AAC player. A limited number of the devices will also be made available from mid-September via the Orange online shop. Video after the jump.

China Mobile is getting ready to launch their first Windows Mobile 6.5 smartphone namely the HTC Qilin, which will be sold under HTC’s Dopod brand, as T8388. The handset will feature a 3.6-inch touchscreen display with 480 x 800 pixels, a 600MHz TI OMAP 3430 processor, a 5MP camera with autofocus, a VGA front camera, CMMB mobile TV, a 512MB ROM, a 256MB RAM, GPS, WiFi and support GSM as well as TD-SCDMA (China’s own 3G technology) connectivities. The HTC Qilin is expected to reach the market in Q4 2009 for unannounced price yet.

FCC has unveiled the Pantech C180 that will be released in the States via AT&T. It is actually an entry-level GSM cell phone that supports Bluetooth connectivity, a camera, an FM radio, a memory card slot and an integrated music player. No word on pricing or availability so far.

Chinese-based company, Sunno is reportedly working on their new smartphone called the S880. This new handset will use of Android + Windows Mobile dual-system operation and feature a 3.6-inch WVGA display, a 806MHz CPU, an 8-megapixel camera, a 256/128MB RAM, GPS and WiFi connectivity. The Sunno S880 is currently in the works and set for an October 15th launch. Stay tuned for more updates.

Kyocera has released a simple and basic mobile phone, the K003. It is designed for those who are new to mobile phones or those who having difficulty in operating them. The phone comes with a 2.8-inch wide QVGA LCD screen and a 1.4-inch sub screen, it features a 1.97M camera with auto-focus, voice recognition, a pedometer, microSDHC card slot supporting up to 16GB and the Noise Cancel and Speak Slowly functions. K003 provides 300 hours of stand-by time and 240 hours of continuous calling time when it is fully charged. It measures 50×106×16.9 mm at 121g and choose from white, gold, pink and khaki colors.

That’s not the touchscreen but a solar panel. Softbank Mobile releases Sharp’s solar-powered 3G clamshell phone ‘936 SH’ in Japan. It comes with 3-inch LCD screen with 854 x 480 resolution, 8M camera with hand-shake detection and auto-focus functions, T-DMB, 1-Seg and waterproof support. The 936 SH measures 50×108×17 mm at 131g and offers 230 minutes of talk time and 300 hours of standby time. Choose from Navy, Earth Green and White.

What about a Playboy handset? This Playboy phone is made by Alcatel, it comes with camera (?MP), storage of up to 800 contacts, Bluetooth, USB 2.0 full speed and mass storage, MP3 player with 64-tone polyphonic melodies and synthesized audio, and all the basic features such as handsfree capability, conference call, organizer, vibrating alert, calculator, alarm clock. The Playboy phone supply talk time of up to 3.5 hours / a 400 hour standby. Package comes with battery, charger with USB cable, stereo headset with remote control and jack adaptor, PC suite, charm, leather pouch, and Playboy Bluetooth headset (optional). The Playboy phone is available in gold, platinum, or metallic pink for $300. Hope you don’t get a VGA camera for this. Anyway the real thing looks much better than the product picture above.

Wow! That’s cool, that’s Paul Frank shaped mobile phone (not the official one). It’s a clamshell phone with one of its eye works as camera. It’s quite a basic phone, comes with a 1.6 inch TFT display screen, 1.3-megapixel camera, FM radio, Bluetooth, music player, stereo speakers and a microSD expansion slot.
